Scholarships

Each year El Quetzalito works alongside families and local communities to help young people remain in school or learn a profession.

Many students would otherwise leave education early because of financial barriers.

This year alone, 59 students have received support to continue their education. Every scholarship represents an investment not only in one student, but in the future of their family and community.

Progress: Supporting 59 students throughout the 2026 school year.

Impact: Helping young people stay in school, complete vocational training, and build greater opportunities for the future.

How you can help: Become a scholarship sponsor or contribute toward school fees and supplies.

Solar power

Reliable electricity opens doors to education, healthcare, and safer community spaces. El Quetzalito works with local schools and communities to install practical solar solutions where they're needed most.

Current projects include preparing and maintaining solar installations that strengthen community facilities and reduce long-term costs.

Progress: Planning and supporting new community solar projects.

Impact: Reliable power for schools and community spaces.

How you can help: Support materials, equipment, or project costs.

Medical Support

Healthcare shouldn't depend on where someone lives. Through partnerships with Canadian nurses and local healthcare providers, El Quetzalito helps connect people with medical care, transportation, surgeries, wheelchairs, and other essential support.

Every case is different, but each begins by listening carefully to what individuals and families actually need.

Progress: Providing ongoing medical assistance as needs arise.

Impact: Helping rural families access healthcare they might otherwise go without.

How you can help: Support transportation, treatment, or medical equipment.

Rocket stoves

A safe, efficient stove can make an enormous difference to daily life. Many families still cook over open fires inside their homes, exposing them to smoke that can cause long-term respiratory illness while using large amounts of firewood. By helping families install eco-friendly rocket stoves, El Quetzalito supports healthier homes, lower fuel consumption, and a more sustainable way of cooking.

Progress: Continuing to identify families who would benefit most and supporting the installation of new rocket stoves.

Impact: Healthier indoor air, reduced firewood consumption, and safer cooking conditions for families.

How you can help: Contribute toward the materials and installation costs of a rocket stove for a family in need.
