Our founder, Monika Leuenberger, together with her sisters and a few close friends, formed this charity to meet the needs of local Guatemalans.

She is a school teacher, who, after two decades of teaching in Switzerland, accidentally ended up in Guatemala more than six years ago, arriving by sailboat.

The project began with abundant donations from family and friends. Then it grew with help from the local sailors' community, foreigners living in Guatemala, various organizations and local families.

Being well connected with the local population and the foreigners in Río Dulce, Livingston Izabal, allows Monika to connect with people in need and provide support.

Success over the last four and a half years has benefited several thousand disadvantaged Guatemalan families.

Policy

We depend on donations from family and friends in different parts of the world. The donors get a report of their impact with pictures and copies of the receipts on request.

We carefully investigate to find the families in need.

We shop locally, hire locally and support small businesses.

The support we provide is personal and without bias toward politics, religions, churches or any other agendas or movements.
